View USDA PDF VersionCompared to last week: Steer calves under 700 lbs 20.00 to 40.00 higher, over 700 lbs steady to 4.00 higher. Heifer calves under 600 lbs 20.00 to 40.00 higher, over 600 lbs 5.00 to 12.00 higher. Yearling feeder steers 3.00 to 7.00 higher, yearling heifers steady to 5.00 higher. Very good demand for steer and heifer calves, good demand for yearlings. Calf buyers were on the seats to buy cattle on this holiday shortened week, the market was extremely active as buyers were ready to compete heavily and battle it out to get these good calves bought. The losses that were seen in the calf market since it plummeted in mid October have now been erased as new all-time high prices were reached. Flesh condition on calves was light and attractive, overall as the weather has been tough up until this week. The yearling market was active and the quality and flesh was attractive for these long strings offered in full loads and multiple load lots.
