Market report for Tuesday, March 31, 2026
Data sourced from USDA AMS
View USDA PDF VersionCompared to last week: Feeder steers 3.00-8.00 higher. Feeder heifers 6.00-12.00 higher. Demand good. Steer calves unevenly steady with fly weights holding the strongest. Heifer calves 10.00-15.00 lower, as last week's extremely aggressive market couldn't be sustained this week. Front-end prices for steer and heifer calves remain strong, although supply of those higher quality cattle continued to be very limited. Overall calf quality was noticeably plainer compared to last week. Calf buyers were definitely more cautious this week, stating lack of moisture has farmers pulling back. The calf market did get stronger after the board closed, Tuesday. CME futures continue their upward swing. Storms are forecasted for tonight.
